I’m a ’56 baby. We watched TV when it signed off at night… and the national anthem meant it was time for bed. We talked on phones attached to the wall… with cords that stretched across the whole kitchen. We memorized phone numbers. Not one or two… all of them. We used maps. Real ones. Folded wrong every single time. We waited days for pictures to be developed… and half of them were blurry. We recorded songs off the radio and got mad when the DJ talked over the intro. We didn’t document everything… we just lived it. We were called simple. Old-fashioned. Out of touch. We were just living life… without needing to prove it.
